Preaching: Pastor Paul Carlson
Children’s Sermon: Megan Downey
At 11:00 am, Pastor Paul will go LIVE on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/clcmorganton/) from the nave at Calvary to preside over a communion liturgy. He will then distribute the bread and wine/grape juice in a drive-thru style along the sidewalk of the parking lot (turn in from King Street).
If you or someone you know may not be able to come to receive the sacrament, but would be comfortable receiving it from their front porch/door, please contact one of the pastors to arrange for this.
Please join with your pastors and other church leaders focused on Racial Justice. View this Link for more information.
A Note of Thanks!!
Options is so grateful to Calvary Lutheran Church for their $3000 donation. We are humbled by their efforts to help us meet our 500 Who Care Campaign goal of $60,000 by reaching out to their church members and local churches. Options would not exist without our community.
OPTIONS Options, Inc. is a very important organization here in Burke County. Options mission is to empower victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence through advocacy, shelter, support and community education. This is accomplished by providing sanctuary and compassionate services that promote empowerment, prevention, healing and recovery and they are in desperate need of donations. Due to the COVID-19, they are down $60,000 because they were unable to hold their annual Art of Chocolate fundraiser which brings in thousands every year. Please follow the attached link to participate in their “500 Who Care Campaign” to help support the ever growing need of keeping domestic violence victims safe.

Our Quiet Pandemic Heroes
Ministries and normal activities at Calvary have drastically changed as a result of the Covid pandemic. But, just like the staff, a large number of the Sunday service volunteers have worked diligently to provide meaningful services weekly, doing important, valuable work with very little recognition.
These Quiet Heroes have given of their time and talents helping to keep life as normal as possible at the Church. Frequent special trips have been made to the church to get the mail and deposit our monetary gifts so the bills can be paid. Folks have assisted with the production, recording and presentation of the meaningful Sunday Services. Communion presentation and preparation, a huge task, has involved lots of extra time simply because of virus precautions. Here special care is necessary to prevent the spread of infection. These faithful members of our congregation have made phone calls to check on members and to brighten their days. Likewise, emails, texts, cards and handwritten notes have been sent. Your support and understanding of the necessary changes has, is, and continues to be such a blessing to us all.
Through these gracious works of service (and numerous other ways) you Quiet Heroes have shared God’s love for us all. MANY, MANY THANKS! These have been challenging days, but by your support and help for one another we can clearly see God working good through it all. Your ability to adapt and continue in God’s work with steadfast faithfulness is a powerful witness for the entire body of Christ. Thank you. You are so greatly appreciated.
Continued Blessings to us all, The Mutual Ministry Team of Calvary Lutheran

Calvary’s Covid-19 Response Discretionary Fund:
This fund is being established to care for those who are in need, both members of Calvary directly and other needs that arise within the community as might be directly caused by our current situation with COVID-19. Financial gifts that are designated for this fund will go to individuals or families in our congregation who have needs such as purchasing groceries, prescriptions, paying for utilities or other housing needs, etc. The funds may also be used for community efforts, such as when we provided lunch to the workers at Grace Heights. In other words, these funds will be used somewhat differently than the general pastoral discretionary funds, as they will be used specifically for this time and situation.
