Fellowship Opportunities

There are a variety of opportunities for members and friends of Calvary Lutheran Church to celebrate our life in Christ with each other. Some gatherings are noted below. Please check the Proclamation, Calvary’s Newsletter, for additional opportunities.

  • Calvary Seniors – This group is  seniors who meet together on the second Tuesday of each month, 11 a.m. at AJ’s restaurant in Morganton (corner of Hwy 181 and Bost Road) for lunch and fellowship. All seniors are welcome.
  • Women of the ELCA – There are two opportunities to meet with other women of the church. The mission of the group is: To mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ. There is a morning group (Circle II) which meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 10 am in Old Fellowship Hall. There is also an evening group (Circle I) that meets the first Tuesday evening of each month at 7 pm at the home of a member. For more information on WELCA  click here. In 2014, the Quilters made 56 quilts to be donated.  The quilts were displayed in the church during a service in the fall and blessed by Pastor Mary and the congregation.  Next, they were boxed up according to the regulations of LWR and taken to a specified place in Hickory where they were picked up by the LWR trucks.  The quilts were then taken to a warehouse in Maryland to be distributed by LWR.
In 2015, the CLC Quilters prepared 71 quilts for Lutheran World Relief.  They weighed 246 pounds and were packed into 11 boxes.   In 2016. there were 100 quilts sent to Lutheran World Relief!
