Pastor Lauren grew up in the Atlanta area before attending Appalachian State for undergrad, where she earned her bachelors degree in Psychology in 2004. Spending many summers at Lutheridge, Lauren began to feel a call to ministry, and spent a year of discernment and service after graduation in Edinburgh, Scotland through the Young Adults in Global Mission program. Not long after that year, she headed to Dubuque, IA where she earned her Masters of Divinity at Wartburg Theological Seminary and met her husband, Paul. Outside of formal ministry, Lauren spends her time with their two awesome children, reading, enjoying music and the outdoors, and staying involved in the community.
Pastor Paul grew up in California as a pastor’s kid before heading to San Diego State where he earned his bachelors degree in History. Always feeling called as a pastor, he then took off to Dubuque, IA where he would earn his Masters of Divinity at Wartburg Theological Seminary.
Heather Evans is honored to serve as the Parish Administrator at Calvary Lutheran Church. Many of her years as a child and a young adult were spent in Jacksonville, Florida growing up with 3 sisters, where she eventually graduated High School in St. Augustine, Florida. However, Heather was born in this area and has resided in Morganton for over a decade, and she is content to call North Carolina “home”. Weeks after completing Highs School she enrolled in a School of Ministry in Pensacola, FL in 1997. In the Summer of 2000 she received her Associate of Arts Degree with a concentration in Missions and was certified to teach English as a Foreign Language. The following Fall she traveled to Khon Kaen, Thailand to complete an internship teaching English to Thai people in a small village church. Upon her return home she was married that December, and the next several years of her life she devoted herself to her position as a stay-at-home mother until both children, Jedidiah and Dominic, started grade school. In 2010 she was hired at Western Piedmont Community College here in Morganton, as an Adjunct Instructor in the English as a Second Language Department. While serving in that position, she also taught Compensatory Education in the same building. Heather has served as an employee at Calvary Lutheran Church since Spring 2015, and is currently a member of the church. She is the proud parent of two teenage boys and enjoys every moment she has to spend with them. She also enjoys piano music, cooking, gardening, writing and photography.
